Traidcraft opens first retail outlet in nearly 30 years

UK fair trade organisation Traidcraft has opened its first retail outlet store in nearly three decades.

Situated on Gateshead’s Team Valley, the store stocks a range of fair trade products from across the developing world, including fair trade groceries, ethical homewares, toys, jewellery and accessories.

Traidcraft said the opening coincides with the launch of its biggest-ever marketing campaign, Show You Care, which aims to encourage shoppers to buy from its new autumn ranges.

The store opening was attended by The Right Reverend Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham.

Larry Bush, Traidcraft’s marketing director, said: “We’re really excited to be opening our new outlet store, our first one in many years. It helps us mark a really ambitious time at Traidcraft, one where we’re reinvigorating our message that supporting Traidcraft and our amazing work shows you care about real people, people who otherwise would struggle to get by.”

The outlet complements Traidcraft’s existing online store as well as sales from Fair Traders and Traidcraft stockists across the country.
