Toys”R”Us predicts top-selling toys for Christmas
Toy retailer Toys”R”Us has revealed what it predicts will be the ‘Terrific Twenty’ top-selling toys this Christmas.
The retailer is forecasting that action and role play toys are set to make a big comeback this year with flying fairies, ghoulish dolls and technology-led pets featuring high in the popularity stakes.
It also predicts that Playstation 4 and Xbox One will be one of the top items on parents’ buying lists due to the long awaited demand for a new games console into the UK market. New gaming platform Disney Infinity is also set to be popular alongside the new Skylanders SWAP Force characters.
Mike Coogan, marketing and e-commerce director at Toys”R”Us said: “This year’s outstanding line up once again demonstrates the knowledge and versatility we have within our industry and the ability to adapt and respond to ever changing markets, whether it be popular role play and action toys, or technology and virtual world gaming platforms, which are entering households at a phenomenal rate.”
Never Miss a Retail Update!The retailer forecasts that interactive toy Furby will once again be among the Christmas top-sellers as will a robotic fish called Robofish. The ever popular LEGO also appears on the list with its City Coast Guard Patrol range together with the ‘app-inspired’ Angry Birds Star Wars Telepods figures.
Toys”R”Us expects the ghoulish dolls from the Monster High13 Wishes movie to become the doll of the season and that it will be joined by Flutterbye Flying Fairy, the spinning fairy that lifts into flight with the touch of a button. With pre-school children have taken to TV character Doc McStuffins since the launch of the programme earlier this year, the retailer expects the Doc McStuffins Doctor’s Bag Set to also have strong sales.
Looking at tablets, the new Kurio ‘S’ range with its three different screen sizes is expected to be popular together with HolograFX, a new product that allows kids to perform magic shows using holograms created by their smartphone and tablet.
Other toys included in the toy store’s ‘Terrific Twenty’ include summertime favourite Slushy Maker Cup, which turns liquid into slushy ice without the need for ice or a blender, and the Cra-Z-loom bracelet maker.
Toys”R”Us said the ‘Terrific Twenty’ takes into account what consumers are requesting and the latest trends in new products. Products appear in alphabetical order.
