Toys R Us recalls China-made wooden paint boxes

Toys R Us has recalled 27,000 crayon and paint box sets made in China, over concerns that ink on the wooden boxes contained lead.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement that the recall covers the Imaginarium brand 213-piece sets, which include watercolors, coloured pencils, crayons and pastels in a light-tan wooden carrying case. Some of the black watercolour paint also contained excessive levels of lead, the agency stated. Lead paint has been associated with health troubles in children, including brain damage. Toys R Us said it had ended its relationship with Funtastic, which manufactured and sold it the 213-piece set, with immediate effect.
