Topshop has announced that it will open its first store in China next year.
The fashion chain, which is part of Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia Group, will open a shop in Hong Kong in partnership with LAB Concept, the retail subsidiary of Hong Kong-based department store Lane Crawford.
Situated on a corner site on Queens Road Central, the store will trade over 12,000 square feet across two floors. Inside, shoppers will find women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, a shoe lounge, make-up line and a personal shopping area.
Lab Concept will manage the partnership, providing the retail space and operational expertise, including staff and logistics support, while Topshop will manage the merchandising.
Topshop has a total of 472 stores, 324 of which are in the UK. The retailer has identified expansion in the Far East as a priority with 27 stores trading in the region and five openings in the last year. Other recent international openings include Australia, Brazil and South Africa.
Sir Philip Green said: “I am delighted to be launching Topshop in Hong Kong in 2013, with Lane Crawford’s LAB Concept as our chosen partner. Their team’s expertise in the Chinese market is invaluable to us.
“I am confident that the fashion-loving Hong Kong customers will enjoy the retail experience and fantastic product offer that Topshop will deliver for them.”
Last week Arcadia Group announced that Leonard Green & Partners had taken a 25% equity stake in Topshop and Topman, valuing the joint business at £2 billion.
