Topshop appoints Kate Phelan as creative director
Topshop has announced that leading stylist Kate Phelan has been appointed as its creative director.
She will join the retailer from Vogue magazine where she worked her way up from fashion assistant to fashion director, a position she shared with Lucinda Chambers.
Phelan has worked with Topshop collaboratively for a number of years and is credited as being part of the team that transformed the retailer from an average high street store to a fashion phenomenom that offers cutting-edge fashion at budget prices. She has also helped to launch the careers of a number of up-and-coming designers.
In her new role, Phelan will be responsible for everything from product development and the brand identity to mapping out the retailer’s future creative direction.
Phelan said “I am thrilled to be joining the Topshop team as Creative Director. Topshop is the most influential, dynamic fashion brand on the high street, a pioneer in both store experience and designer collaborations. I look forward to contributing to Topshop’s next chapter.”
