Timothy Everest teams up with Sheridan&Co to launch retail design competition
Retail design agency Sheridan&Co has teamed up with renowned tailor Timothy Everest MBE to provide a unique launchpad for up-and-coming design talent.
Everest, whose celebrity fans include David Beckham, Jay-Z and Brad Pitt, is preparing to launch his biggest ever central London store in 2014. With Sheridan&Co heading up the store design, the team has launched the search for a talented individual to play a pivotal role in the project.
Open to designers of all backgrounds who are aged over 18, ‘The Blue Book: A Retail Design Collective’ competition will see the winner have their ideas incorporated into the final design. The competition will also offer the chance for the most talented designers to make it into the Sheridan&Co Blue Book, a collection of designers that can be called upon when the agency receives an appropriate project brief from its clients.
Sheridan&Co founder and chairman Michael Sheridan said: “This is a unique prospect, but not just for the overall winner. We’re literally opening up our Blue Book of contacts to all entrants, giving them the opportunity to make a real name for themselves in the industry.
Never Miss a Retail Update!“Like any sector, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get that all-important foot in the door, and that’s exactly what we’re offering here. We want to find the next wave of undiscovered talent and put them in a position to be offered opportunities with Sheridan&Co in the future.”
The first stage of the competition invites designers to submit their creative ideas for Everest’s new store to Sheridan&Co, following a brief made available through sheridandesigncollective.com.
A panel of judges led by Everest and Sheridan will then whittle entries down to the final ten. These will be displayed to a group of industry experts and creative directors during a special showcase evening at Sheridan&Co’s central London workspace, The Study.
Taking into account reactions on the evening, the judges will pick an ultimate winner who will then work with Sheridan&Co to develop their winning ideas for incorporation into the final design.
Due to launch later this year, the four-storey House of Everest will blend both a classic and contemporary style, with a retail experience that includes three distinct levels of tailoring, a grooming area, and a clubroom serving food and drink.
Commenting on the project Everest said: “I am excited to be working with Sheridan&Co as a part of this unique project. Not only does it allow me to explore vastly diverse concepts for a future retail store, but it also gives us the chance to really engage with and promote design talent across the UK, which is so important in this fierce creative market.”
Other clients within Sheridan&Co’s portfolio include L’Oréal, Estée Lauder, Procter & Gamble, Arcadia Group and Bacardi Martini.
