Tiger of Sweden appoints new agencies to help push international expansion

Fashion retailer Tiger of Sweden has partnered with two new agencies as part of its international expansion plans.

The Swedish retailer has appointed Empire and Branch to help launch distribution in the US while The Hanger will assist in expanding the brand further in France.

Founded in 1903, Tiger of Sweden saw its revenue grow by 22% to 879 million SEK in its last financial year. In 2013, the retailer opened stores in London, Cape Town, Toronto, Aalborg, Bergen and Stockholm, thereby adding to its 20 existing stores in Sweden and 23 other shops across Europe, Canada and South Africa.

Tiger of Sweden chief executive David Thunmarker said: “For the past two years we have taken Tiger of Sweden on an international journey. We have enjoyed great success in Selfridges throughout the UK – we are now stocked in all four Selfridges stores – and marked 2013 with the opening of flagships on London’s iconic Piccadilly, in Canary Wharf, Toronto, Cape Town, and Stockholm amongst others.

“Having now established Tiger in London, our plan is to do the same in two of the other fashion capitals of the world – New York and Paris. We plan to grow quickly over the next two to three years, through a mixture of wholesale and the opening of standalone stores.”
