Tiger like-for-like sales rise 4.36% in the UK in 2013

Tiger, the Danish homewares, toy and accessories retailer, saw its UK like-for-like sales increase by 4.36% in 2013 as it continued its expansion in the UK.

While UK turnover rose by 45% to £23.3 million, pre-tax profits surged by 63% to £2.98 million. EBITDA also increased, rising by 50%.

The company opened six new stores in 2013, including its West End flagship on Tottenham Court Road, to bring the total number of outlets in the UK to 24. With all stores currently in London and the South East, further openings are scheduled for first half of 2014 in Richmond, Canterbury and St Albans. More openings are planned for later in the year.

The retailer said it has no plans sell online in the UK at present.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Tiger UK managing director Philip Bier said: “We are satisfied with our trading results for 2013, which demonstrate that our profits are increasing at a faster rate than our expansion. Tiger will be expanding rapidly throughout 2014, with new stores opening in urban affluent and fashionable high streets and shopping centres throughout London and the Southeast. “

Founded in Denmark in 1995, Tiger operates 280 stores across 19 countries worldwide.
