Thorntons strengthens board with non-exec appointment
Martin Davey joins chocolate retailer
Thorntons has moved to boost its board strength with the appointment of Martin Davey as a non-executive director of the company.
Davey is chief executive of Cranswick, a company active in the food, agribusiness and pet sectors. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003 by the Financial Times, recognising his role in leading the business through a period of rapid expansion and diversification.
Chocolate manufacturer and retailer Thorntons said “the board looks forward to the contribution Martin will bring to the company in helping to deliver shareholder value during an important period of our strategic development.”
In January, Thorntons independent directors said they had rejected several takeover approaches for the business, including one from the management team.
