Theo Fennell in preliminary sale talks

Theo Fennell, the jeweller whose celebrity clients include Victoria Beckham and Elton John, has confirmed it is in talks regarding a possible sale of the company.

The jeweller said it was in “very preliminary talks” with private equity firm EME Capital but added that there could be no certainty that a formal offer would be made for the company.

Established in 1982, the company sells jewellery designed by founder Theo Fennell who owns a 16.1% stake in the business.

The company, which has been reporting losses since 2009, has recently been targeting affluent customers overseas as UK demand for luxury jewellery wanes in the economic downturn.
