GENERAL MERCHANDISE NEWS

The Surrey Cook launches ‘Just Add Wine’ into Sainsburys,

Just Add Wine (TRBs Product of the month) is a box of six 6g sachets, each containing the concentrated equivalent of a 175ml glass of de-alcoholised full-bodied red wine, meaning at-home cooks can now add the equivalent of a glass of wine to a dish without having to open a bottle.

Instantly flavouring a sauce, casserole or gravy no longer requires home cooks to open wine or even go out and buy a bottle – there is now an economical and handy store cupboard solution. The Surrey Cook is delighted to have secured a nationwide deal with Sainsbury’s for Just Add Wine’s launch this Spring.

Sourced from vineyards in Southern France, Just Add Wine contains over 92% real full bodied red wine and is automatically ‘de-alcoholised’ in the concentration process – sure to make it popular with families and sectors of the community that would not normally buy alcohol based products for recipes.

The idea was the brainchild of television executive Neil Osborne who does all the cooking at home for his young family. Frustrated with the unavailability of a cooking ingredient that was purely real wine when making at-home dinners, Neil was reluctant, like many, to use wine he and his wife wanted to enjoy drinking.

With the help of a government backed startup loan, family finance and a successful pitch to Sainsbury’s, Neil has now parked the media career as he embarks on his “mysterious food retail adventure” as he calls it. “It’s a bit mad” he says “this is a completely new world of understanding, but Sainsbury’s has been great all the way through the process”

Victoria Slater, Buyer, Canned & Packaged at Sainsburys describes Just Add Wineas something really different that we hope will excite Sainsbury’s customers and the at-home cook. We are delighted to be introducing this innovative line

Just Add Wine is gluten free, contains no artificial colours or flavour enhancers and has less than ONE CALORIE PER SACHET. It is also available from selected local independent retailers throughout Surrey, including the Greenwise shops & cafes.

Just Add Wine’s white wine variant is now in development for the Summer with other related line spin-offs planned for later in the year.
