The search is on for the UK’s best small shops
The Best Small Shops Competition is making a return after a four year hiatus.
Run by the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group and administered by the Independent Retailers Confederation, the competition aims to bring small retailers to the attention of parliamentarians and the local community.
Sponsored by PayPoint and Tictail, the competition uses a range of criteria to select the best small shop including innovation within the business, engagement with the community and entrepreneurial activities.
Simon Danczuk MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group, has announced that the shortlisted candidates will attend a special awards reception at the House of Commons on 25 February 2015 where the winner will be announced.
He added: “I am delighted to be holding the Best Small Shop Competition again this year. Small shops really are the backbone of Britain, providing essential services for local people and creating jobs in their communities. I think it is right that Parliament acknowledges the vital role small shops play and seeks to recognise and reward the very best small shops across the country.”
The closing date for applications is 30 January at 4pm. Applications can be made a The Best Small Shops website.
