The Rug Company appoints new Marketing & Sales Director

The Rug Company, pioneer of the designer rugs concept, has appointed Richard Eagleton as Marketing & Sales Director.

Eagleton joins The Rug Company from AGA Rangemaster, where he was Group Marketing Director. Prior to that he worked for luxury brands Alfred Dunhill and Wedgwood.  At The Rug Company, Eagleton will be responsible for building the company’s luxury brand status both at home and overseas.

Backed by Piper, the consumer brand specialists, The Rug Company said it plans to open three new international stores in 2011 and will announce a major UK venture “within weeks”.

Christopher Sharp, The Rug Company’s co-founder, said: “The appointment of Richard Eagleton is testimony to The Rug Company’s commitment to putting in place an infrastructure that will enable us to grow our business significantly during the next two years. Richard comes with a wealth of experience and we see his appointment as a fantastic achievement. We are delighted to have him with us.”

Richard Eagleton said: “I’m honoured to have joined the board of such a creative and successful brand at a crucial point in the company’s development. While our ambitions are set high, we are well placed in the UK and internationally to enhance our reputation as “the world’s most respected and trusted purveyor of quality rugs.”

The Rug Company was founded in 1997 by husband and wife team Christopher and Suzanne Sharp and now has 17 stores wordwide.
