The Perfume Shop strengthens leadership team with appointment of two female directors

The Perfume Shop has appointed two new female leaders, Karen Harris and Laura Wilkinson, as directors as it publishes its 2023 Gender Pay Gap report.

Previously head of marketing, Harris has taken up the new position of customer director where she will head up the retailer’s customer, loyalty, marketing and PR  functions.

Meanwhile, Wilkinson, who was previously head of digital, has become online business director with responsibility for the ongoing evolution of The Perfume Shop’s online business which includes theperfumeshop.com and a mobile app.

Both roles will form part of  The Perfume Shop’s leadership team and will support the retailer’s continued commitment to development opportunities and creating “a great place to work”.

The Perfume Shop has also published its 2023 Gender Pay Gap report that has analysed the pay of 1,639 employees. The report shows that the median gender pay gap in The Perfume Shop stores is 0.95%.

Within The Perfume Shop’s head office, the mean gender pay gap is -3.97% due to the high number of females working in senior roles. The Perfume Shop is known for its strong commitment to supporting women’s development and growth within the workplace.

Gill Smith, The Perfume Shop’s managing director said: “We’re pleased to announce Karen and Laura’s new positions within our Leadership Team and know that their proven expertise and passion will continue to help deliver our strategy to be the UK’s favourite O+O perfume retailer.

“We’re also pleased to see this year’s improvements in our Gender Pay Gap results. With more initiatives planned to continue to build on these results, we’re confident that our values, opportunities and benefits make The Perfume Shop a really special place to work for everyone.

“In 2023 we achieved three important external awards that demonstrates our commitment to people practices and to our employees, and we will continue to focus on growing and supporting our own talent in 2024.”

Last year, The Perfume Shop was recognised as Trainer of the Year at The Retail Bulletin’s The People in Retail Awards, which celebrate the achievements of teams and individuals working in retail.
