The Perfume Shop celebrates 2.4% rise in Christmas sales

Fragrance retailer The Perfume Shop saw a 2.4% uplift in like-for-like sales in the four weeks ending 5 January 2013 as trade was boosted by strong online sales.

The company said traffic to its e-commerce site more than doubled in 2012 leading to a 42% increase in online sales. Following the launch of an improved mobile and smart-phone enabled website, sales on devices were up 307% for the full year and 367% in December.

Jo Walker, managing director, said: “We are delighted with the results for 2012, particularly during such tough economic times.  We firmly believe that our strong sales performance, which continues to grow year-on-year, is due to the dedication and hard-work of the entire team.

“The outstanding success of our online sales, along with a fantastic array of in store services that add value for our customers has enabled us to deliver a strong result in a challenging year.”

The Perfume Shop opened 11 new stores in 2012 taking the total to over 250. The retailer said its premium fragrances were its strongest performers with Paco Rabanne One Million, Gucci Guilty and Thierry Mugler Alien among the best sellers.
