The Original Factory Shop explores strategic options

The Original Factory Shop has called in advisors to explore its options after failing to find a buyer.

The move follows current owner Duke Street Capital trying to sell the discount chain last year through Deloitte.

The private equity firm has owned the business since 2007.

According to The Times, it is understood that strategic advisory firm Teneo has been called in to look at all options for the retailer, which could include a further attempt at a sale.

A spokesperson for The Original Factory Shop told the publication: “Like many retailers, the company continually reviews its outlook and is exploring a range of options.

“The business continues to trade as normal and is expected to perform well over the busy Christmas period.”

Established in 1969, the retailer has 187 stores across the UK.
