The Harris Partnership has designs on new B&Q

B&Q have signed up for a 45,000. sq ft store on the Cardinal Point scheme in Tamworth

The scheme, which is being brought forward by Royal London Asset Management, is situated on the Ventura Park Road and close to the Bonehill Road, received planning permission over 18 months ago, and will boast 100,000 sq. ft of retail space when it is completed.

Fashion chain Next will take 10,000 sq.ft of premises close to the B&Q, with Maplin taking an adjacent unit.   In addition a terrace of speculative trade units will also be brought forward as part of a Section 106 agreement with the local authority.

The B&Q store has been designed to a custom specification and will boast the latest in B&Q store design to meet the company’s environmental and sustainability requirements.

Mike Schorah, managing director of The Harris Partnership comments, “We are delighted at being appointed to assist in the delivery of this exciting retail project. We have a long standing relationship with RLAM, and have been involved on several of their schemes over the past few years.  We have also designed in excess of 60 B&Q stores, so we have a very sound knowledge of what is required to give them excellent functionality combined with a strong identity. “
