The Entertainer to expand into India

The Entertainer has signed a master franchise agreement with Reliance Brands to enable it to enter India.

The toy retailer will open stores in Mumbai in the first half of 2020 before rolling out new shops elsewhere in the country.

Gary Grant, co-founder of The Entertainer, said: “We believe that our community based stores, offering the very best brands and licenses at fantastic value price points, are a great fit for the market.

“India is a key priority as we continue our international expansion and Reliance Brands are a highly professional and dedicated team with extensive retail knowledge and experience.  We’re looking forward to working with them and to bringing all the fun of The Entertainer to India.”

Founded in 1981 in Amersham, The Entertainer is still family owned and now has a total of 172 UK stores. In December 2018, the retailer  acquired POLY, a chain of 54 toy shops in Spain. This was followed  by the acquisition of Early Learning Centre in 2019.
