The Entertainer reports a ‘record-breaking’ Christmas as it plots further expansion

Toy retailer The Entertainer has reported seeing record-breaking sales in the five weeks to 28 December with like-for-like sales including VAT climbing by nearly 7%.

The Entertainer opened 14 new stores in 2013, taking the total to 91, and plans to open a further 12 shops this year. It also launched its first franchised store in Dubai last year and is looking to expand further internationally in 2014.

Gary Grant, founder of The Entertainer, said: “We’re extremely pleased with a solid performance in what has proved to be a challenging Christmas for the toy industry.

“This result was made possible by the hard work and commitment shown by our people across the business; to outperform the wider retail market by such a significant margin is something they should feel very proud of.”
