The Broadway signs up raft of new retailers

The Broadway shopping centre in Bradford has signed up a raft of new retailers.

The deals include Urban Chocolatier, Smiggle, Select, HMV, and Millie’s Cookies. Now 93% let, the centre has said it is in talks with a number of other retailers, with the expectation that the remaining few units will be signed up in the coming months.

Stationery retailer Smiggle has taken a 542 square foot unit while confectionery brand Urban Chocolatier is to open a 931 square foot store. Both outlets will be the companys’ first in Bradford, and for Urban Chocolatier, its third store in the UK and first outside of London.

Meanwhile, entertainment retailer HMV has signed up to a mezzanine of 7,950 square feet on the ground floor level next to Debenhams while fashion retailer Select will open a 3,552 square foot store. The nationwide cookie bakery Millie’s Cookies will also take space at the centre.

Renee Moran, asset manager and vice president at The Broadway’s owner Meyer Bergman, said: “Broadway Bradford continues to grow and establish its position as a major shopping destination following its successful opening in November 2015. Since the beginning of the year there’s been a real energy from retailers about the opportunities available to them at Broadway Bradford, with strong interest shown in becoming part of the centre’s success. We are focused on continuing to bring new and diverse brands to the city and setting the benchmark for shopping centres in the UK.”

The deals follow a series of new signings earlier this year which included the 35,000 square foot cinema The Light and six retail and food operators including Ann Summers, Pandora, Patisserie Valerie and Pizzi.
