The Broadway announces opening date
The new Broadway Bradford shopping centre has announced that it will open its doors on 5 November after it recently handed over the two largest stores to anchors Debenhams and Marks & Spencer for their interior fit-outs.
The two retailers, which were among the first to sign up to the scheme, will occupy state-of-the-art units within the 570,000 square foot centre.
Following the opening, city centre retail spend in Bradford is expected to increase by around 78% to £1 billion with footfall set to rise to over 32 million.
The Broadway is now over 70% let with many of the remaining units in the latter stages of negotiation.
On completion, the shopping centre will be owned by a fund advised by Meyer Bergman and two major Canadian pension funds, Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan and AIMCo. Westfield will manage the property once it opens.
Duncan Bower, director of development at Westfield Corporation, said: “After years of hard work and crucial support from many sectors of the Bradford community, I am very pleased to announce an opening date for The Broadway of Thursday 5 November 2015.”
