The Body Shop to close 75 stores and cut hundreds of jobs

The Body Shop is to close 75 stores over the next four to six weeks with the loss of 489 jobs.

However, FRP Advisory, the firm overseeing the health and beauty retailer’s restructuring, said 116 UK shops will remain open.

FRP Advisory’s Tony Wright told the BBC: “In taking swift action to right-size The Body Shop’s UK store portfolio, we have stabilised the business.

“We remain fully focused on exploring all options to take the business forward.”

After it entered administration last month, it was announced that The Body Shop was planning to shut down up to half of its stores in the UK and streamline its head office.

The store closures and cost-cutting at the head office means that between 750 and 800 people will be made redundant
