Tesco welcomes pharmacy recommendations
Supermarket chain aims to increase pharmacy presence

Tesco has welcomed recommendations from the OFT to liberalise the pharmacy licensing regulations.
The supermarket group already operates 187 dispensing pharmacies, dealing with 10.5m prescriptions every year.
Lucy Neville-Rolfe, Tesco Group Corporate Affairs Director, said: “The current restrictions work against consumers. As the OFT has found, they are a barrier to new entrants, better services and value and fresh ideas, preventing new pharmacies from operating in areas where customers really want them.
“Where we have been able to operate pharmacies, we consistently provide a first class, innovative, accessible and patient-focused service. We are keen to extend this to more customers and more communities, and urge ministers to act quickly and positively on the OFT’s recommendations.”
