Tesco recreates 1960s store at Goodwood Revival
Tesco recreated a 1960s store stocked with authentic products at the Goodwood Revival event at the weekend.
As a major sponsor of the historic motor racing event, the supermarket showcased a restored 1950s Tesco delivery van which had recently toured central London and delivered toys to Great Ormond Street Hospital’s on site school.
Tesco also set up an F&F fashion shop for the first time at Goodwood and launched its new vintage inspired Duchess range. Customers were able to take advantage of styling tips as well as talk to the team of buyers and designers about the range and its inspiration.
The main Tesco store sold products such as Treets, Marathon bars, Opal Fruits, Tunnocks’ tea cakes and traditional cream soda which had all been remade with 60s-style branding. Tesco also worked with independent toy supplier House of Marbles to offer customers authentic toys and games from the era.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Adam Kirk, senior marketing manager at Tesco, said: “We’ve really gone all out this year. We’ve got a great history and lots to draw on so we love recreating our 1960’s store, and it’s been great getting other brands involved too. We know that visitors and customers love visiting our shop and it’s great to see how nostalgic people feel when they see the old Tesco logo above the shop door.”
