Tesco opens first Christmas pop-up shop

Tesco has chosen Bishop Stortford in Hertfordshire as the location for its first Christmas pop-up store.

The Christmas store, which opened in November, is situated in a previously empty retail unit adjacent to the retailer’s superstore in the town.

The opening of the Christmas Store follows the re-launch of the Bishop’s Stortford store. The store has been refurbished as part of Tesco’s Refresh programme, which has seen the addition of new signage and in-store décor, and an expansion of the fresh food, deli, and bakery sections of the store.

Phil Jones, project manager in Tesco’s Property team, said: “We are always looking for ways to enhance the shopping experience for our customers. At this time of year there is obviously strong demand for seasonal items, and the empty unit next to our store presented an ideal opportunity for us to help our customers in Bishop’s Stortford find their Christmas essentials quickly and easily.

“Their feedback has been excellent so far – it might be something we look at again in the future, should the opportunity arise.”

The Christmas store stocks non-food items only including cards, wrap, decorations, toys, and artificial Christmas trees.
