Tesco obtains planning permission for new Derbyshire store

Tesco has received planning permission to build a new 45,000 sq ft store in Shirebrook, Derbyshire with outline planning permission for a further 30,000 sq ft of additional retail and commercial units.

The retailer was granted planning permission for a 28,000 sq ft store in the town back in March 2010, but then submitted plans for a  larger format store to meet the aspirations of Bolsover District Council’s Masterplan for Shirebrook. The latest plans include 309 parking places and new links to Shirebrook town centre.

Deborah Hayeems, spokesperson for Tesco said: “This is an exciting time for Shirebrook, the fact that the council has granted planning permission shows their commitment to the local Masterplan and we hope to become an important anchor in the town, bringing new retail space alongside our larger store.”
