Tesco launches further wave of price cuts in Big Price Drop campaign

Tesco has kicked off the New Year with a another wave of price cuts as part of its Big Price Drop campaign.

The supermarket giant said it had focused the latest round of price reductions on the most popular staples to include new products spread across ranges such as bread, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.

The average discount will 15% per item with Tesco’s 12 Free Range Eggs, down from £2.50 to £2.12, and its British Apples Pack down from £1.47 to £1.20. Other items included in the price drop are frozen carrots, beef roasting joints and cod fillets.

UK CEO Richard Brasher said: “Big Price Drop is not a one-hit wonder. It is a rolling campaign to help customers save more money everyday at Tesco on the essentials they need the most.”

Tesco claims a trolley shop containing a selection of 50 of the reduced staple items will come down in price from £64 to £56 – a saving of £8.
