Tesco hires former Samworth Brothers CEO as non-exec director

Tesco has announced that Lindsey Pownall will join its board as an additional independent non-executive director on 1 April.
Pownall was previously chief executive of chilled and ambient food supplier Samworth Brothers until the end of last year and has significant experience in food, grocery and retail brand development.
On taking up her role at Tesco, she will also join the corporate responsibility committee.
Tesco chairman John Allan said: “I’m delighted to welcome Lindsey as a non-executive director. She brings a wealth of relevant experience, and complements the existing skills and experience on the board. She will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the board.”
