Tesco appoints new non-exec directors

Tesco has strengthened its board with the appointment of two new non-executive directors.

Due to join the board on 1 April, Alison Platt is chief executive of property services group Countrywide. Her previous roles include managing director at Bupa, where she was responsible for international development markets, as well as chief operating officer at Bupa and a number of senior positions in British Airways.

Simon Patterson, managing director of Silver Lake Partners, will also join the board on 1 April. He is currently a board member of Dell and Intelsat and a non-executive director of N Brown Group. Prior to joining Silver Lake, he was a member of the founding management team of the logistics software company GF-X which was acquired by Descartes.

John Allan, Tesco chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Alison and Simon to the board and I know that their broad range of skills and experience will be a real asset to the company. The board and I very much look forward to working with them over the coming years.”
