Ted Baker opens first store in Japan
High fashion retailer Ted Baker has opened its first store in Japan. The new flagship in the Omotesando district of Tokyo is spread across two floors with a gross area of 5750 sq ft.
Selling menswear, womenswear and a range of accessories, the store’s “analog meets digital” design concept features communication devices from the 1950s such as radios, typewriters and telephones. There is also a London-style black cab where customers can pose and take photos and a switchboard where they can plug in cables to listen to messages from Ted Baker’s designer.
Commenting on the opening, Ted Baker CEO Ray Kelvin said: “We are very excited to be opening our first store in Japan in Omotesando. This is a big opportunity for Ted and we are very proud of the bespoke store design which is designed to surprise and delight with lots of quirky Ted touches to be discovered along the way.
“We hope that Tokyo shoppers will be enchanted by both the store and the collections and walk away as loyal Ted Baker devotees.”
