Ted Baker launches beacon technology in Westfield White City store

Fashion retailer Ted Baker has introduced beacon technology in its Westfield White City store.

This is the first time that the technology has been used in any Ted Baker retail space.

To access the technology, customers download the free Iconeme app to their iOS and Android device, which they can then use while shopping in store.

To use the app, a customer needs to be within a 50 metre range of the Bluetooth enabled mannequin, allowing them to receive a push notification. They can then access details about the clothes and accessories displayed, such as price and links to purchase the items directly from Ted Baker’s website, or where they can be found in store.

Shoppers can also see more detailed photos and descriptions of the products and save looks for later, share with friends and access additional offers and rewards. The beacon technology also works 24/7, so customers can use the app if they see a look they like in a shop window, even if the store is closed.

Scott Taylor, CRM manager at Ted Baker, said: “Our customers are at the core of everything we do and we strive to ensure that their shopping experience is as seamless and engaging as possible. We believe that shoppers want to be able to access the latest technology and use their smartphones while in store, and this new venture will enable us to build on and enhance our customer journey.”

Ted Baker said it plans to roll out the technology to other stores in the near future.
