Ted Baker Christmas sales up 10.1%

Fashion brand Ted Baker grew its retail sales by 10.1% in the eight weeks to 9 January 2016 as it continued to expand with new stores and concessions.

The company said gross margins were in line with expectations and there was no significant promotional activity before Christmas.

Expansion continued during the period with additional concessions launching in the UK, France and Spain and a new store opening in California. Licence partner openings included new outlets in Melbourne and Sydney, a new store in Saudi Arabia and a new concession in Mexico.

Ted Baker said its e-commerce business performed well, with sales increasing by 39.1% in the eight weeks.

Ray Kelvin, Ted Baker founder and chief executive, said: “The Ted Baker brand has performed well over the Christmas period against a tough trading backdrop. We continue to invest across international markets for the further development of Ted Baker as a global lifestyle brand.”
