SweatyBetty sprints into 2005

Store expansion to build on Christmas growth
Activewear retailer SweatyBetty plans further expansion in 2005 after a successful Christmas sales period.

Like-for-like sales for the fitness fashion chain were up by 22.6 per cent for the four-week period up to December 27, with total sales up by 57 per cent.
January sales are already surpassing the Christmas sale period thanks to an influx of customer, keen to buy the latest yoga and gym wear as they start a new year fitness campaign.
Tamara Hill-Norton, founder of SweatyBetty, said: “SweatyBetty is about increasing the confidence of women through good quality, stylish activewear that looks great.
“Women want to look good whilst they are working out, and we give them an unrivalled choice of fashionable clothing from renowned brands such as Nike and adidas, along with niche labels all under one roof.”
SweatyBetty first opened in 1997 and currently has 11 outlets across London and the South East. Founded by Tamara and Simon Hill Norton, the company has accelerated its growth with the opening of four new boutiques and 2 concessions in the last 18 months.
2005 will see new boutiques opening in Bristol and Brighton in January and February, with two further boutiques and further concessions also planned for 2005.
