SuperGroup appoints Penny Hughes as non-exec director

SuperGroup, the owner of the Superdry fashion brand, has appointed Penny Hughes as an independent non-executive director as it works towards becoming a global business.

Due to take up her role on 1 April, Hughes is currently a non-executive director of the Morrisons supermarket chain and The Royal Bank of Scotland where she is chair of the Sustainable Banking Committee.

Hughes has previously held non-executive director positions at Home Retail Group, Gap, Next and The Body Shop as well as Thomson Reuters Group, Vodafone and Trinity Mirror.

During her executive career Hughes spent 10 years at Coca-Cola, initially as marketing and commercial director, before being made president of Coca-Cola Great Britain and Ireland.

SuperGroup chairman Peter Bamford said: “We are delighted that Penny is joining the SuperGroup Board. She brings with her a wealth of highly relevant experience, having worked with leading UK and US retailers and global brands, as well as with founders of successful entrepreneurial businesses.

“We very much look forward to Penny bringing her skills and insights to the board at this exciting time in the development of SuperGroup as we progress towards our goal of becoming a global business.”
