Superdrug launches online opticians service

Health and beauty retailer Superdrug has launched a new online opticians service as part of plans to expand its range of health and wellbeing services.

The Superdrug Online Opticians offering includes over 900 styles of prescription glasses and sunglasses priced from £9.

To use the service, customers log on to the website, select their frames and lenses, enter their prescription and choose whether to have their glasses delivered to their home or to one of Superdrug’s 800 high street stores. For orders over £25, in-store collection and home delivery is offered free of charge.

Each order comes with single vision thin and light lenses, anti-reflection, UV and scratch resistant lens treatments, a spectacle case and a cleaning cloth, all included in the price. In addition, a full range of lens upgrades including varifocals, bifocals and tints are offered online along with a range of accessories including cloths, lanyards, cases and cleaning solutions.

Ian Lloyd, head of healthcare services at Superdrug, said: “At Superdrug we are constantly evolving our health and wellbeing offering to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers. We are delighted to be the first high street pharmacy to offer an online opticians service, providing affordable prescription glasses and sunglasses from a well-known brand customers can trust.”
