Sun brings out summer style predictions

The recent warm weather has led to a flurry of style predictions in the newspapers.

The Telegraph reported that sales of men’s shorts have been skyrocketing this year. According to the paper, John Lewis and Asos have both seen demand more than double compared with last year, while Marks and Spencer has observed a 40% increase.

Both John Lewis and Marks and Spencer say that the growth is being driven to a large extent by sales of smart, preppy shorts.

According to the Guardian, a key style trend for 2011 is brightly coloured jeans for women. Pink jeans are reportedly a hot item for both Asos and mywardrobe.com, with the former saying that sales of coloured jeans in general are up 300%.

The newspaper also says that men are not immune to the trend with Topman reporting that a particular mustard chino is the fastest selling trouser it has ever had.
