Double digit like-for-likes

Wal-mart has reported double digit sales and profit growth at its UK supermarket chain Asda.
The second quarter saw an increase in customers of almost 10 per cent, combined with increasing spend per head to give the fifth consecutive quarter of double digit sales growth.
Like-for-like sales was again in low double digits, driving a market share increase of 15.6 per cent, Asda, the number three supermarket operator in te Ukm is closer than ever to nearest rival Sainsbury.
Like-for like clothing sales grew at almost 30 per cent, making George the fastest growing clothing retailer in the UK.
Asda will open its eighth Wal-Mart Asda supercentre next week at Livingston in Scotland.
