Strong Christmas sales for Majestic

Like for like UK sales at Majestic were up 5.2 per cent for the nine weeks of Christmas trading from 1 November 2005 to 2 January

Tim How, Chief Executive of Majestic Wine PLC, said: ‘We are pleased with our sales performance over the Christmas period. Wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone, Spain, Chile and New Zealand sold very well and Champagne sales grew strongly.’
In addition Steve Lewis has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for Majestic’s trading operations. Steve is currently Retail Director. He was appointed to the Board in 1998. Justin Apthorp joins the Board as Buying Director. Justin is 43 and has been a buyer at Majestic since 1992. He has managed our buying department since 2002.
