Spreadshirt appoints Philip Rooke as new CEO

Spreadshirt, the multi-channel clothing commerce platform, has appointed Philip Rooke as its new CEO.

Rooke has been promoted from chief marketing officer where he achieved a 45% increase in Shop Partner numbers. As CEO Rooke will lead the business through a new growth phase but will also have continued responsibility for marketing and sales.

Rooke joined Spreadshirt in 2009 and was promoted to the management board in August 2010. Prior to Spreadshirt, he was CEO of iVillage, where he transitioned the online company into the Tesco.com fold, and became a director at Tesco.com.  His previous experience includes being managing director for Europe at Skinstore.com, the Amercan online skincare retailer, and managing director of Carlton Online.

Rooke said of his appointment: “Spreadshirt has become the leading platform in the customisable clothing industry. We now market in 15 countries and 9 languages, with factories in the US and EU. We are continually expanding the options we offer both the B2C and B2B markets, providing them leading quality service.  I look forward to driving the business forward and continuing the great results we are seeing already.”

Lukasz Gadowski, chairman of the supervisory board, commented “We are very happy to have Philip as our new CEO. He has proved himself as an exceptional leader in his previous positions and within Spreadshirt, where he has been the de facto CEO for the past few months.”
