Sports Direct to open budget gyms

Sports Direct has unveiled plans to open a chain of low cost gyms across the UK.

The sportswear retailer is planning to open 200 gyms where membership will cost as little as £5 per month with a joining fee of £10.

The retailer is currently rebranding 30 gyms that it has recently acquired from LA Fitness. The first Sports Direct gyms will open in Liverpool and Keighley.

Sports Direct said: “Our gym memberships will offer fantastic value for money in the same way that our customers have come to expect from our retail outlets and our website.
