Sports Direct quashes rumours about Office acquisition

Sports Direct has moved to quash speculation that it is looking to acquire footwear retailer Office.

The sportswear retailer said in a statement: “Notwithstanding recent speculation, Sports Direct confirms that it is not considering an offer to acquire Office.”

Sports Direct said the speculation was “unhelpful” to the customers, staff and suppliers of both companies, and that it was focusing on building brand support for its premium Lifestyle format which includes USC and Republic.

Earlier this month Sports Direct acquired a 4.8% stake in Australian fashion flash sale site MySale.
