SPAR debuts S Budget range in UK

Convenience store group SPAR is launching a new own label economy range in the UK, following strong sales in seven countries across Europe.

The S Budget range, to be launched on 29 August, will feature 33 lines including food items such as baked beans, cheddar cheese and chopped tomtoes, as well as a range of household basics including bleach, kitchen towels and washing up liquid.

The range will be continuously monitored to ensure the products remain competitively priced, said SPAR.

Susan Darbyshire, SPAR UK Brand Director commented: “This fantastic range of products has been developed to drive down the cost of local shopping, and encourage customers to do their top-up shopping at SPAR. We want to show shoppers that they can find value for money as well as convenience in SPAR stores, and make sure our retailers have the products in the range that will drive customer loyalty for the future.”

The launch will be supported by a £1 million customer communication package which includes national and local radio ads, a digital campaign, door drop leaflets and POS package. The POS kit will include header boards, shelf stripping, shelf edge enhancers, fins, hanging boards, barkers and posters will all help retailers create theatre in stores.

The campaign will encourage SPAR retailers to stock the S Budget range. Retailers will receive a generous margin to ensure that the range delivers on profit as well as sales and customer satisfaction.

The S Budget brand was originally launched in SPAR Austria and now has over 250 products in the range.

SPAR is world’s largest international food retail chain with 13,600 stores in 33 countries. There are 2,600 SPAR stores in the UK which employ  50,000 people.
