Southern Co-operative appoints new chairman
The Southern Co-operative has elected Michael Hastilow as its new chairman.
Having previously held the position of vice-chairman, Hastilow succeeds David Blowe who completed his term as a director at the AGM in June. The business has also elected two new vice-chairmen – Tom Blair and Neil Blanchard.
Commenting on his appointment Hastilow said: “I am honoured to have been elected to this position, and will endeavour, along with my fellow directors, to ensure that TSC continues to develop not only as one of the premier independent societies, but as a society based firmly and fairly on both colleague and member engagement.”
The Southern Co-operative operates over 250 food stores and funeral branches across southern England as well as the online home shopping service Co-operative Independent Living. Earlier this year the business announced annual sales figures of £327 million, a rise of 7.8% on last year.
