Southend Airport takes off into the Cloud

In the last twelve months alone there have been in excess of 720,000 passengers fly from the airport.

To cope with the increased retail demand, they have deployed a cloud-based software system to help them manage their own retail operations.

Retail is a critical revenue stream of all airports, so the Stobart Group (the owners of Southend Airport) carried out extensive research into suitable Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) systems for their retail operations, the Stobart Airport Shopping store. With aggressive growth plans in place for the airport it was important the system could grow with demand and would also allow different departments’ remote access.

“Retail is essential to UK airports: not only is retail part of the fabric of the ‘airport experience’ but it is an important revenue channel.” explained Laura Tinkler, Special Projects Manager at the Stobart Group. “As Cybertill is cloud based it allows all departments to have real time access to the system, no matter where they are. So everyone is seeing the same information and can act on it accordingly. What’s more with the investment the Stobart Group has made into Southend Airport and its plans for the future it was important the EPoS system could grow with us, and with Cybertill it is incredibly simple to bring new tills online.”

Never Miss a Retail Update!

“Cloud-based technology is ideal for a company like the Stobart Group who have multiple offices located around the country. It gives the relevant people access to their store’s performance regardless of where they are, allowing them to make informed decisions about the business.” Commented Ian Tomlinson, Cybertill founder and CEO.
