Søstrene Grene invests in European logistics hub to support UK expansion
Søstrene Grene is to open a new 45,000 square metre distribution centre in Venlo in the Netherlands as it looks to improve delivery efficiency for its stores and customers, including in the UK.
Due to open by autumn 2025 in collaboration with Prologis, the new facility will improve stock availability, reduce delivery times, and advance the Danish homewares retailer’s sustainability targets, including a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.
Introduced to the UK in 2016, Søstrene Grene has rapidly gained popularity for its affordable, design-led home accessories. With 24 UK stores opening this year, taking the total to 45, it plans to reach 100 by 2030. The Venlo distribution centre will play a vital role in meeting rising demand.
Designed as a pilot for sustainable construction techniques, the facility will feature solar panels, energy-efficient systems, and recycled materials.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Søstrene Grene chief executive and co-owner Mikkel Grene said: “The UK is one of our most exciting markets, with customers appreciating our unique blend of Scandinavian design and affordability.
“We are committed to growing responsibly. By prioritising sustainability in the design and operation of our new distribution centre, we are making meaningful progress towards our carbon reduction targets while improving service for our customers.”
