Social media marketing to target Christmas.
At least 43 per cent of marketers are planning to use social media as part of their online ad campaigns in the run-up to Christmas and a further 37 per cent are arranging online vouchers and offers, suggests new research by LinkShare.
Another 17 per cent plan to create adverts within online videos and only two per cent are setting up augmented realities to incorporate into their marketing campaigns.Furthermore, only 18 per cent of marketers think that their budgets will be cut next year due to the rise in VAT. At least 30 per cent claim that the rise will encourage them to create more targeted campaigns.
Liane Dietrich, managing director of the affiliate network, said: “A call for more targeted and measured campaigns is certainly in line with what we are seeing from our own customers who are looking to increase their efficiency and after the Christmas sales boom this will remain important.”
One area in which companies expect to see an increase is in the importance of video advertising in 2011.
Almost a third (30 per cent) think that video advertising will be the most widely used digital format, while 28 per cent believe ads on social media sites will be the most prevalent.ComScore recently found that mobile video consumption has increased by 75 per cent in the UK since July 2009.
