Sir Terry Leahy invests in Metapack

Former Tesco CEO Sir Terry Leahy has bought a ten per cent stake in Metapack, a software company that manages customer deliveries for retailers such as John Lewis and Asos.

Leahy is understood to have invested £2 million in the firm whose other investors include Artemis and William Currie Group.

Commenting on his investment Leahy said: “For ten years Metapack has been innovating and leading the field to help improve delivery and customer services in the important growth area of e-commerce.”

He added: “It will extend its services to retailers by providing industry based information on e-commerce trends, delivery standards and even fraud analysis. The company has a great future ahead of it and one day I would like to see it as a leading global player.”

Metapack was incorporated in 1999 by founder and CEO Patrick Wall and is chaired by David Burtenshaw, the former CEO of Lynx. The firm is now keen to expand its overseas operations.

Wall said: “We’re now the preferred e-commerce delivery management player in the UK retail sector. This new investment, and Sir Terry’s arrival, will give us resources and expertise to capitalise further on our market leadership in Europe and beyond.”
