Sir Stuart Rose becomes chairman of Blue Inc

Sir Stuart Rose, the former chief executive of Marks & Spencer, has returned to the UK high street by taking up the chairmanship of fast-growing fashion retailer Blue Inc.

The chairmanship is Rose’s first major corporate role in retail since he left M&S 18 months ago.

Blue Inc, which previously traded as Mr Byrite, operates 198 stores. In 2011 the company extended its UK presence with the acquisition 46 Officers Club stores out of administration. Earlier this year, the company also bought 20 stores from collapsed fashion chain D2 Jeans.

Rose invested in Blue Inc last year and holds a small stake. Fellow investors include the billionaire Reuben brothers.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Blue Inc is  understood to be on track to achieve sales of £80 million and profits of £5.5 million this year, up 70% and 82% respectively on the previous year.
