Simon Belsham to step down as president of Walmart’s Jet.com
Former Ocado director Simon Belsham will be stepping down as president of Walmart’s Jet.com.
Walmart said a restructuring of Jet and the merger of the Jet and Walmart teams means there is no longer a need for a dedicated leader for the business.
Marc Lore, president and chief executive of Walmart Ecommerce US, said: ”Simon has been critical in repositioning Jet to reach urban customers. His steadfast leadership, deep knowledge of the retail industry and passion for our associates and customers had a positive impact on our organisation. I can’t thank him enough for all he has done and appreciate his leadership and contributions.”
Moving forward, Kieran Shanahan will be responsible for Jet’s strategy and management. He will also continue to oversee the food, consumables and health and wellness categories for Walmart’s online business.
Shanahan began his Walmart career with Asda and at one point led its ecommerce operations. He joined Walmart’s ecommerce team in 2014 and led the build of the company’s US online grocery service before moving to merchandising roles.
Belsham will remain with Jet until early August to help ensure there a smooth transition.
In addition to working with Ocado as director of non-food, Belsham is a former chief executive of Notonthehighstreet.com. His past experience also includes a stint as online director at Tesco.
