SGS Group appoints new chief executive
Shopping centre owner SGS Group has appointed Claire Barber as its new chief executive.
Due to take her up her new role from 30 September, Barber has been working for over 18 months as group asset management director at student accommodation developer, Unite Group.
Prior to this, she spent three years as director of asset management at Cadogan Estates and 13 years at British Land as head of retail asset management. Earlier in her career, she worked in senior roles at Terminal 5 at Heathrow and Grosvenor.
SGS is the owner of Lakeside, Atria Watford, Victoria Centre in Nottingham and Braehead in Glasgow.
The news follows SGS Group’s landmark recapitalisation earlier this year in which it secured £445 million of new senior financing from Lloyds Bank.
Jaap Tonckens, non-executive chairman of SGS Group, said: “On behalf of the board, I am very pleased to welcome Claire as chied executive of SGS Group.
“She brings the perfect blend of sector knowledge and experience to oversee the next phase of SGS’ journey – this is an exciting time for the business and we are delighted to have her on board.”
